Moscow. 1894

This wine decanter in the form of a hare with a group of young rabbits belonged to Bulgaria's Tsar Ferdinand, one of Fabergé's most important clients. According to Bainbridge's memoirs (1949, page 27), after this set was presented  Tsar Ferdinand offered Fabergé a ministerial post in the government. Currently there are only four decanters made by Fabergé in the form of various animals. There is a beaver which belongs to the State Hermitage, a pig from the collection of Gokhrana in Moscow, and this one in the Fabergé Museum.
